same sex wedding Greece
As a wedding photographer I have photographed some homosexual gay marriages but only with two men involved. Same sex wedding Greece
I am always happy in undertaking gay and lesbian, homosexual wedding photography and other photography projects such as anniversary, engagement or exchange of vows. Wedding photography is the same no matter if the couple is heterosexual or homosexual.
– same sex wedding Greece –
Santorini is a gay and lesbian “friendly” island and homosexual weddings do occur although paperwork and details are always a pain.
Despite of that many gay and lesbian couples are visiting and even getting married at Santorini island.
Lesbian women photo tour
This was the first time of photographing two lesbian women being together.
Angela and Lotte are not married yet and they are together for only one year now but as they both say “you know it when you meet the right one”!
Angela decided that she would want to be together with Lotte for the rest of her life and planed a trip to Santorini in order to propose to her!
Ideal destination – Santorini
Ideal place, ideal environment and holidays combined at the same time!
What was missing was a happening, a photographer and voila…. she found me!
We exchanged several emails and ideas on what should be the best plan and which places to visit.
I am glad that I was their engagement – wedding photographer at the marvellous Santorini island!

LGBT in Greece
Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights in Greece have evolved significantly over the last years, establishing it as one of the most liberal countries in Southeast Europe. Discrimination is not as common anymore, although LGBT people in Greece may still face legal and social challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents. Despite this, Greek public opinion on homosexuality is generally regarded as increasingly culturally liberal, with same-sex unions being legally recognised since 2015.
Both male and female same-sex sexual activity have been legal in Greece since 1951, and anti-discrimination laws in employment were enacted in 2005. Since then, anti-discrimination laws have been extended to other spheres including gender identity. Hate speech and hate crime legislation is one of the most rigid and comprehensive in Europe. In 2015, civil unions(Greek: σύμφωνο συμβίωσης; cohabitation agreements) were legalised for same-sex couples, making households headed by same-sex couples eligible for many, but not all, of the legal protections and rights available to married opposite-sex couples. In 2017, transgender people were granted the right to change their legal gender without having to undergo surgical alteration of their genitals in order to have key identity documents changed. In February 2018, a county court in Greece granted a non-binary person the right to a gender-neutral name.In May 2018, the Greek Parliament passed a law granting same-sex couples the right to foster care children.
Gay culture is vibrant in the capital of Athens, particularly in the gay neighbourhood of Gazi, in Thessaloniki and the Greek islands. The island of Mykonos is known worldwide for its gay scene. There are four LGBT pride parades held annually, in Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras and Heraklion, the capital of the island of Crete. The largest of them, the Athens Pride, saw record participation in 2015, and the attendance of many public figures including the President of the Hellenic Parliament and the Mayor of Athens.
According to a 2018 report carried out by ILGA-Europe, which assesses LGBT rights in European countries, Greece achieved the highest improvements among the 49 countries in the legal and policy situation of LGBT people between 2014 and 2018, with an overall score of 52%.
